Welcome to our new website!
It has been just over a year since we have had a website, and we are glad to have it back. The new site is intended to be a place where pitchers can find information regarding scheduling, scores, current news, photos, and history. The site is just beginning and as time goes on more will be added and the site will be improved. Eventually it will become the “Information Hub” for all the events at Speedway Horseshoe Leagues.
We are going to have two major workdays this Spring.
Saturday March 30th will be a day set aside to renovate the turf. The existing turf will be removed, the ground graded and leveled, and reseeded. The times will be 9:00 to 3:00. It will be hard work but with lots of help, it will be manageable. Come whenever you want and stay as long as you want. Lunch will be provided.
Saturday April 6th will be a day set aside to repair, replace, and adjust all 16 stakes. It will be hard work also but with lots of help, it will be manageable also. Come whenever you can and stay as long as you want. Lunch will be provided.
Spring Leagues will start Tuesday April 30th and Thursday May 2nd.
Due to the renovations on the turf, we will not be “walking” in the Spring. It will be necessary to let the new grass mature for a couple of months before the “wear and tear” of walking begins. As a result, the Spring Leagues will be “standing” with 4 pitcher teams. Because of this change, registrations will be accepted starting today to give plenty of time for teams to form and organize. We will be combining the past Tuesday and Thursday night competition leagues into one league on Thursday night. That means there will be 8 teams with 4-6 pitchers on each team. The courts will be full! Start organizing your teams now. If you need help, contact me. The Tuesday night league will be set up for the new 1-2-3 Fun League. It will also be a “standing” league. However, it will be individual teams using the “Rally Scoring” system. We started this concept last Fall, and it was a success. It is a great way for new or newer pitchers to get acquainted with pitching horseshoes and the game of horseshoes. Current pitchers are also welcome. It is great to have experienced pitchers help with new or newer pitchers.
Summer Corn Hole will begin on Monday June 24th.
The first Corn Hole league was held last summer. We learned A LOT about what it takes to conduct a good league and we are looking forward to building on last year’s success. Cornhole, by the nature of the game, is a standing sport also. Registrations will be accepted starting June 1st.
